Finally, we are in the theatre and on the stage where we will soon perform. There are frequently many things to organise and adjustments to be made as we transfer from the studio to the stage. Having said that, a dance studio is a place where we train, create work and rehearse existing work; and we know that it is both a working space in its own right as well as a kind of cipher for the stage. We move between these realities seamlessly, sipping water or chatting between warmup exercises for example, and then proceeding into the space and looking slightly up to where the first circle level will be when we are in the theatre. But now the reality of the stage space, the wings and the placing of the piano, the projections, the microphones all come into play.
