In Medias ResCen: Sustaining the Creative Moment after
15 Years of Art Making and Reflecting

24 June 2014, 6:30pm at Artsadmin Toynbee Studios

A public conversation with the ResCen artists: Ghislaine Boddington, Shobana Jeyasingh, Richard Layzell, Rosemary Lee, Graeme Miller, Errollyn Wallen

ResCen Research Centre was founded in 1999 as an artist-focused hub at Middlesex University (now located within the School of Media and Performing Arts) for the purpose of inquiring into the work of artists in the art world and how this can be explored and disseminated through public discourse and publications.

In Medias ResCen: Sustaining the Creative Moment after 15 Years of Art Making and Reflecting was a chance for fellow artists, researchers and audiences to get an update about the track record and current conditions of ResCen and its Associate Artists. The seminar focused on the navigation of time as a changing, challenging and creative factor, explore the topical circumstances of creative practices under the new pressures of the arts marketplace and how it is possible to create new routes for art making in and between the art world, higher education, creative industries and the public sphere.

The seminar attendees were welcomed by Professor Christopher Bannerman, Head of ResCen

Introducer and moderator: Ola Johansson, Reader in Contemporary Performance Practice at ResCen
